St John & St James Message Board

  1. Hi Sophie,

You know Southport Road? - Well, if you keep on going it becomes Bailey Drive. St John & St James are using St Stephens church at the moment, and it's number 71 Bailey Drive. ((And it starts at 4pm). Quite easy to find, and not that far from where they used to be. I said to Anne yesterday you'd be coming, and she said she was hoping to see you on Friday, (so she might be able to sort out a lift for you for Sunday).

Hope you're having a good week.

    Bye for now

    Mark

  2. Hello Mark,

Thank you i will certainly go on sunday! Where is it again am very forget full?

  3. Hi Sophie

I'm sorry - I didn't check the messages yesterday - and so I couldn't reply until now. They're a really nice bunch of people at St John & St James - so it's easy for anyone to just turn up. But coz you know Anne, I'll ask her to keep an eye out for you (or maybe you'll see her during the week if you still go to Redi). She'll look after you.

Hope you had a good weekend.

    Mark

  6. Hi again Sophie

St John & St James is a real mix of all ages - so no problem.

Since you're 13, I just thought I'd ask if you know Anne Woodruff ? (She works in quite a few schools around Bootle with Ykids, and she's also part of St John & St James Church). Either way, I know she'd be pleased to look out for you and make you feel at home when you come. If you want, I could let her know you're coming ? Bye for now

    Mark

  7. Hello,

Thank you very much i will certanly come one sunday at 4pm! One more question is there a certain age because my teacher said each church have different rules; by the way i am 13 is that ok.

    Thanks SOphie

  8. Hi Sophie

Yes we certainly do. If you're interested in becoming a 'born again' Christian (which, according to Jesus, is the only type there is), then come along any Sunday and chat to one of the Vicars. They'd be happy to tell you a bit more about what it means to be born again, and maybe lead you in a simple prayer.

Just to let you know - St John & St James Church has now moved to St Stephen's Church on Bailey Drive (until we get our new building), and services start at 4pm on Sundays.

    Best wishes

  10. Hi, can you tell me if you have a service on Sunday evenings please

  11. Hello,I was a member of Sunday school from 1952 until 1960 and then a church member. I have many happy memories of St. John and St. James, I recall Revs Russell and Charman very well and spent many a happy hour playing at the vicarage. I was baptised by the Rev Musgrave-Brown. I have lived in Morecambe for 40 years but never forget happy times in Bootle. If anyone remembers me please get in touch, God bless Thelma

  12. Hi Julia...we miss you a lot too!

  13. Hi Sophie...having a party in the hall sounds a great idea. Do you want to give me a ring so we can work out the details and how much it might cost.

Look forward to hearing from you

  16. Hi Matt

Thanks for the info regarding the revised and updated Liverpool Diocesan website.

The improvements look really good and there is some great stuff on there.

Without meaning to blow our own trumpet in any way, I think we are definitely one of the more progressive Dioceses.

Just out of interest, which church are you a member of?

I am a Reader here at St John and St James and a member of our Shared Ministry Team and also, in a moment of weakness I agreed to stand for the Bootle Deanery Synod to which I have now been elected as a member.

Earlier this year, along with four others from St John and St James and half a dozen others from the Bootle Deanery, I have recently completed the one year Mission Shaped Ministry (MSM) course run by the Diocesan Church Growth and Ecumenism team in conjunction with the Fresh Expressions initiative.

I can honestly say it is the best course I have been on and would strongly recommend it to anyone. We are currently running a six-session Mission Shaped Intro course here at St John and St James to give people a taster of what they can expect and experience if the wish to go on the next MSM course, which I guess the Diocese will be running from September 2009 through to June 2010.

Wishing you every blessing in your ministry.

    Yours in Christ

    Phil Green
